My godmother is an ASL interpreter and is very active in the Deaf Community. I remember going with her to an event when i was around 11 or 12 years old. I remember it was a picnic but I don't really remember too many details like where or exactly when it was. I enjoyed it very much. There were so many people there and my godmother had taught me how to spell my name and a few other basic signs like "thank you" and greetings and goodbyes so I was not too nervous about the language barrier. I had fun meeting people and playing games! Everyone was so nice and it was impossible to be my shy self around the outgoing people who I met!

Hello my best experience with ASL is when I was about 10. I was learning it from a teacher/tutor. I really enjoyed it and she really helped me understand the signs. She really made it seem much more than just a language she really brought it to life. I think she really inspired me to take it up again. I love the language and am fascinated with it.
